This has been a very successful term with regards to the development of the Military Preparation School within Rhymney. Among the many success stories for the staff at Rhymney one learner stands out. Mr Niall Davies started MPS Rhymney on 11/06/2015 he was referred to Rhymney after failing to engage with mainstream education.
Shortly after attending it was clear to staff that Mr Davies had mountains of untapped potential, despite his initial fears that he would struggle within the classroom he soon became a accustomed to the MPCT way and excelled with his qualifications achieving BTEC level 1 certificate in Sport and Active leisure, City & Guilds level 2 certificate in Employability Skills, and a BTEC level 2 certificate in Team work and Personal Development within the Community which has given Mr Davies the equivalent of two GCSE’s to take towards his chosen career path.
After being a high achiever within the physical aspect of the programme Mr Davies was selected among others to represent MPS Rhymney at the Saint David’s Day competition and collectively achieved a 7th postion out of 22 colleges.
Mr Davies also was elected to receive the much coveted MPS Rhymney learner of the year. Mr Davies has now used his experiences at MPS Rhymney to progress to the MPCT college, he has also taken this one step further by passing is selection at Litchfield attaining a Grade B, he is now waiting to start Horrogate on the 25th September 2016 to pursue a career within the Royal Welsh. Mr Davies is now using this time to prepare himself for this life changing journey by enaging fully with the MPCT college programme.
