Rhymney learners support Remembrance weekend at Merthyr Town FC

7th November 2015 Glenda Harding

MPCT Rhymney learners supported the Remembrance weekend, assisting with the events at Merthyr Town FC.

While the home side may have lost their Southern League Premier match with Weymouth 3-1, the learners were on hand to sell poppies as well as collecting for the MPCT charity, The Motivation and Learning Trust.

The learners also laid a wreath on the centre circle at the start of the match alongside the captains from both clubs and the involvement of MPCT was well received by the club supporters, who had lost several players during World War II.

The Rhymney learners have had a busy time over the past week as they completed the overnight expedition “Sandy Dune” just before the weekend as well as supporting RBL collections around the Rhymney area.
