I have worked in training for over 10 years delivering sports coaching and exercise to young people who wish to pursue a career in the sports and active leisure industry. During this time I have completed my Post 16 Teaching Qualification, A1 Assessor Award and V1 Internal Verifier Qualification, all of which has enabled me to couple my coaching and instructing background with teaching practices. Before working in Training I work for many years in Local Authority Sports Development and Community Development. I currently play semi-professional rugby for Newport RFC and have represented Wales in Baseball.
"The best part about working in training and education through sports and fitness, in the ability it has to engage with young people from all backgrounds and abilities. The physical active learning opportunities allows us as teachers to ensure that all learning is innovative and fun for all."

I have 14 years of experience as a Training Instructor delivering Sport and Exercise qualifications. I have completed a BSc Hons in Applied Sports Science, Post 16 Certificate in Education, A1 Assessors Award and V1 Verifiers Award. These have allowed me to function effectively in engaging, motivating and educating young people. In my spare time, I am Head Coach of my club of 17 years, Ystrad Rhondda RFC.
I love the opportunity to promote health and wellbeing through sport and exercise. The skills and characteristics we develop through sport and exercise can be transferred to everyday life. The college provides an opportunity to experience this through our Inspired curriculum, promotion of active learning and creating a positive learning environment.

I am the Lead Instructor at Cardiff Sports Academy, I have held this position for the past year, having previously worked in the role of Training Instructor in Cardiff. During my time with MPCT, I have become qualified in First Aid at Work, Level 2 Gym and Fitness Instructor, Level 2 Group Indoor Cycling, Level 2 Kettlebell Training and Level 3 Nutrition for Exercise and Health. All of this training has proved invaluable for me to become a well-rounded, confident and competent Instructor capable of developing young people for careers in the sport and active leisure industry. Prior to working with MPCT I was a professional rugby player with Newport Gwent Dragons. I now combine my work with MPCT playing semi-professional rugby for Newport RFC.
The best thing about working for MPCT is that I get to educate and motivate young people who have a keen interest in sports coaching, development, exercise and fitness which is my great passion. I love that I get to meet new people on a weekly basis and help them develop. Getting to inspire and educate young learners is very rewarding as I get to see the progress they make throughout their time in the Sports Academy.
