In celebration of Armed Forces Week, learners and staff at MPCT Newcastle were treated to a truly memorable experience as North East DJ and music star Schak visited the college to show his support and share his inspiring journey.
Schak, known for his chart-topping dance anthems and energy on stage, took time out of his busy schedule to meet with young people enrolled at MPCT. His visit was a part of our ongoing celebrations that honour the incredible work of the British Armed Forces and promote the values of service, discipline, and community.
During the visit, Schak spent time engaging with learners, talking about his career, personal challenges, and how he overcame obstacles to pursue his passion in music. He drew parallels between his own experiences and the resilience and determination shown by MPCT learners, many of whom are on pathways to careers in the Armed Forces or public services.
“It’s amazing what these young people are doing here,” said Schak. “I’ve got massive respect for anyone putting in the hard work and discipline this college teaches. They’re preparing themselves for real futures, whether in the military or beyond, and that’s something I’m proud to support.”
The atmosphere throughout the academy was electric, with learners excited not just to meet a local celebrity, but to see someone from their own communities succeed against the odds. Schak’s authenticity and openness resonated deeply with many of the students, who saw his visit as a motivational boost and a celebration of their own progress.
As part of the visit, learners showcased elements of their physical training and personal development, giving Schak an insight into the hard work and commitment required of MPCT students. He praised their effort and encouraged them to keep pushing forward, no matter the challenges.
MPCT staff said, “It was fantastic to welcome Schak to MPCT Newcastle. His story of perseverance and staying true to his path really aligns with the values we instil in our learners. This visit helped shine a spotlight on their achievements and brought an extra buzz to our Armed Forces Week celebrations.”
The visit was also a reminder of the strong connection between MPCT and the communities we serve. With Schak being a proud ambassador for the North East, his visit highlighted the power of local role models in inspiring young people to realise their potential.
MPCT remains committed to supporting young people to gain the confidence, qualifications, and fitness needed to pursue their aspirations, whether that’s in the military, public services, or other meaningful careers.
A huge thank you to Schak for giving up his time, sharing his story, and helping us mark this important week.
