On Wednesday, MPCT Sunderland and Newcastle learners had an incredible opportunity to step into the world of the Royal Navy with an exciting Acquaint Day at HMS Calliope, one of the Navy’s premier training establishments.
The day was designed to give learners a first-hand insight into life in the Royal Navy, offering them the chance to engage in a range of activities that showcased naval skills, teamwork, and discipline. From practical demonstrations to interactive tasks, learners gained valuable experience and a deeper understanding of what a career in the Royal Navy entails.

Throughout the day, the learners had the chance to speak with serving personnel, ask questions, and learn about the various career pathways available. They also took part in physical and team-building exercises, designed to reflect the challenges and camaraderie that come with naval service.
The experience proved to be both inspiring and motivating, with many learners expressing how the day strengthened their ambitions to pursue a military career. It also reinforced the importance of discipline, resilience, and leadership—core values that MPCT promotes through its training programs.

A huge thank you to the team at HMS Calliope for hosting such an informative and engaging day. Opportunities like this are invaluable in helping our learners make informed decisions about their future and develop the skills they need for success.
We’re incredibly proud of our learners for their enthusiasm and commitment, and we look forward to seeing many of them continue their journey towards a career in the Armed Forces.
