Learners from MPCT Bristol and Gloucester recently took part in the annual Military Exercise held at the beautiful Bathurst Estate in Cirencester. The event was once again made possible thanks to the continued support of Lord and Lady Bathurst, who have been long-standing champions of MPCT since 2016. Lady Bathurst also proudly serves as one of our Patrons, and we’re deeply grateful for their generosity in allowing us to use the estate’s extensive grounds to enhance our learners’ training experience.
The military exercise is fieldcraft-based, designed to mirror real-world military scenarios that challenge learners both mentally and physically. It’s a vital opportunity to support their Level 2 Military Preparation Qualification, while also developing essential skills that go beyond the classroom.
Throughout the exercise, learners were encouraged to:
✅ Improve their knowledge and understanding of fieldcraft techniques
✅ Strengthen leadership and teamwork skills
✅ Build confidence and self-management
✅ Develop determination and resilience
Learners took part in a range of practical and immersive activities, including:
🔹 Harbour drills and sentry duties
🔹 First aid in the field
🔹 Section attacks and fire manoeuvres
🔹 Camouflage, concealment, and stalking
🔹 Patrol formations
🔹 Navigation exercises
These activities not only tested their endurance and problem-solving abilities but also reinforced the values of teamwork, discipline, and leadership that are central to life at MPCT.
The annual Military Exercise continues to be one of the highlights of the MPCT calendar, providing learners with hands-on experience that prepares them for both military careers and life beyond training.
