"The most rewarding part of the job is seeing learners progress within their chosen career, I enjoy helping them with any barriers they need to overcome and it gives me a sense of pride to see them develop into professional and focused young people."Pete Leak
My name is George Thompson and I served 5 years in the army with the Mercian regiment where I was the platoon LMG gunner. In the last few years I went for Physical Training Instructor and passed with the best session on the course. In 2016 I left the army and became a level 3 personal trainer. Whilst I enjoyed personal training I wanted more of mentoring role. This is where I chose MPCT.
Paul Thomas Wood aged 53 joined the Armed forces in 1985, served for 14 years and 90 days. During my service I reached the rank of Corporal. During my time in the RAOC /RLC I served in a number of operational areas.
First posting was 15 Regiment Donnington, where I served for 2 years. I then applied for Special Duties and did 2 years in Northern Ireland where I worked alongside the Special Forces as support staff. After this I was posted to Hong Kong where I work on Stone Cutters Island in the ammunitions dept. My role was issuing ammunitions to the Royal Navy and the other units based in Honk Kong.
During my time in Hong Kong I was deployed to New Zealand on mortar concentration exercise with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment where I was employed as the ammunitions storeman. After Hong Kong I was then posted to 3 Field WKSPS in Tidworth where I served for 12 months before moving to 16 Regt Bicester Oxford. My role here was as the regiment’s PTI where I served for about 4 years this was a very rewarding role keeping the regiment fit and helping serving soldiers maintain their fitness levels to a good standard. I was also involved in the running and organising of some of the adventure training activities taking soldiers over Snowdonia and camping out overnight.
After this I went back to Northern Ireland for a couple of years and served alongside Special Forces as support staff. My final posting was at 15 Regiment Donnington where I was also employed as the regiment’s PTI.
During my career in the Army I boxed for the Regiment and played rugby and I also had the pleasure of playing for the Combined Services Rugby team out in Hong Kong. I completed my class 3 PTI course out in Hong Kong where I achieved best British student and overall student. I then went back to the UK and completed my class 2 PTI course.
My name is Beth MIller I am currently under the job title as Skills English and Maths tutor based at Liverpool and Manchester MPCT.
Before this role I have seven years experience in the professional performing arts industry where I have taught infants, children, young adults and adults. I thoroughly enjoyed this role as I could demonstrate my skills to others and observe first hand the positive impact physical education and performance can have on everyone.
I currently now continue to teach at local performing arts school in merseyside where I teach evening classes. I also get the opportunity to showcase my students in performances around the UK and enter them in competitions.
In my own time I LOVE all aspects of fitness and I am currently training to enter my first body building competition under the fantastic teachings/training of Mark Hunt and Kathryn McGovern.
