Ian has a long history of service, serving as a Junior Soldier at 15 and then in the Welsh Guards for 26 years.
Ian was born and bred in Wrexham, enjoys Rugby and is the coach of Wrexham Rugby Club.
"As a Lead instructor, I love to see the learner transformation from their first day at college to the day they leave and how much stronger they have become. I strive for the day they step away having achieved their objective. I also warm to the fact that they even return to the centre to give a little bit back during their on time on leave."

Jack Waldron
Joined August 2021
I joined the army in December 2014 at 17 years of age after passing the CIC (Combatmans infantry course), serving 7 years in The Mercian Regiment. During that time, I completed my AAPTI course, I completed my NCO Course and RIGS course (gunnery instructor). The last two years I have spent as a PTI an section commander at a phase one establishment.
I served on two operational tours, one being op orbital (Ukraine) and the other being op cabrit (Estonia), as well as other overseas exercises in Canada, Falkland’s, Oman, Lithuania and small exercises in the UK.
I decided to leave the Army because I wanted to set myself a new challenge which focuses more on the teaching role, therefore seeking a great opportunity in MPCT. As I’ve already taught as in instructor at phase one, I am up to date with the modern combat military syllabus. This enables me to pass down many years’ experience and knowledge to a younger generation.
In my spare time, I am a gym enthusiast an also like boxing. I boxed in the army an gained my level 2 coach England boxing certificate. Also, I like going to my old MMA gym back in Liverpool.
I also love spending time with my family and friends going for meals and having a few social drinks.
