Laurence (Ronnie) has 24 years of Military experience having served as an Infantry soldier from the rank of Guardsman to Warrant Officer Class 1. He has an exemplary military record having been awarded the meritorious service medal (MSM) in 2011. Ronnie has worked as a military instructor at a number of training establishments since 1994 including, ITC Catterick, ATR Glencorse, ATR Bassingbourn and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as a Colour Sergeant Instructor. Ronnie finished the final 6 years of his Military career at the Infantry Training Centre as the Company Sergeant Major Guards Training Company from 2006-2008, Master Coach of the 2nd Infantry Training Battalion from 2008-2009 and Regimental Sergeant Major of the All Arms Drill Wing from 2009-2011.
I joined the Royal Marines Commandos in 2012 and embarked on a 32 week training programme at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, which culminated in the Commando course where I earned the coveted ‘Green Beret’. I was then posted to 40 Commando Royal Marines where I was placed in Delta Company as a General Purpose Machine Gunner and a Battlefield casualty replacement for Operation Herrick. I deployed on numerous occasions with 40 Commando which was then the lead Commando Group. In 2013 I deployed on exercise Black Alligator as a Light Machine Gunner, where I trained with the United States Marine Corps in the Mojavi desert. Then again in 2014 I deployed to the African jungle, in Gabon. Shortly after I deployed on Operation Cougar where I was employed in Albania, Greece, Jordan and Gibraltar. I also represented the Royal Marines on the Royal Navy Boxing squad.
I also gained a qualification in Service Police Investigation. Which saw me being deployed to various parts of Israel and Spain on a security and investigation tasking that involved working closely with different embassies and Policing organisations. During this time I also became an instructor for Operation Tempera, a government strategy that involved the mass training of Service personnel, training them in counter terrorist training and Law.
When I left the Marines, I joined Virgin Money Bank, where I coordinated Physical Security for the south of England region. Responsible for the safe delivery of security training of the bank and store network.
Joined MPCT in 2018 after a 13 year career in the Coldstream Guards Motor Platoon/Rifle Platoon as a Forward Observer achieving the rank of Platoon Sergeant. Relocated back to Durham before starting work for MPCT in South Shields. Aim for the next year is personal development, getting involved in the new centre South Shields and doing some travelling.
